He founded Shields Insurance with a clear mission: to provide clients with strategic guidance, tailored protection, and ongoing service at the highest level—standards often absent in today’s insurance landscape.With a consultative approach, Matthew specializes in helping organizations and individuals navigate complex benefits, insurance, and estate planning decisions with confidence and clarity. His leadership is defined by a relentless drive to create long-term value, strengthen client relationships, and build solutions that align with both business and personal goals.A Florida native and graduate of Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Matthew resides in West Palm Beach with his wife, Laura, and their two sons, Zane and Bennett

Laura currently serves as Vice President at Shields Insurance, where she combines her expertise in human resources, operations, and finance with her passion for helping others. Whether through her work, volunteer efforts, or simply offering support to those in need, she is committed to making a positive impact in her community.Fluent in both Spanish and English, Laura holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University.She resides in West Palm Beach with her husband and their two children. Her faith in God plays an integral role in how she approaches life and family.

Myriam Menelas is the Executive Assistant to Matthew and Laura Shields at Shields Insurance. Known for her professionalism, dedication, and problem-solving mindset, Myriam plays a key role in supporting leadership and ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly. She brings a servant-hearted approach to her work, paired with a strong attention to detail and a warm, approachable personality.Fluent in English and driven by a commitment to excellence, Myriam excels in managing communications, organizing priorities, and creating a supportive environment for those around her. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with Jesus, as well as connecting with friends and family.
